If you ever have the chance to hold a hummingbird gently in your cupped palms - do it and be delighted. Its like holding nothing but a heartbeat in your hands since they weigh so little. Just a tiny vibrating soul. Every year when I see the first copper colored hummingbird dart through my yard I am thrilled to know they have made it back after an arduous migration. How a bird that small makes a 600 mile crossing over the Gulf of Mexico is beyond comprehension. Some even continue onward ending up in Canada for the breeding season. It is truly an astounding little creature. I am in awe.
I paint with Gouache on teabags. After being steeped, the teabags are dried and rinsed. The teabags are then soaked in a base bath, to remove acidity, and then rinsed and dried again. I then apply them in layers on canvas board.
All originals are then scanned, and I create high quality archival prints from those scans.
