This listing is for an open edition Giclee Print of "Red-Winged Blackbirds" an original Gouache painting by Erin Linton. Your choice of 8x10, 11x14 or 16x20.
It never quite feels like spring to me until I have heard the liquid languid call of the Red-wing blackbirds as they settle into the cattail marshes near my home. To me that call signifies the beginning of nesting season, long birding trips to the marsh, and a sort of coming home – no matter where I find myself. If you look closely at this painting you will see that the bird in the foreground is indeed a Tri-colored blackbird. The yellow patch that normally sits next to the red on the wings is a stark white in Tricolors, and if you listen carefully their voice is just a little different.
I paint with Gouache on teabags. After being steeped, the teabags are dried and rinsed. The teabags are then soaked in a base bath, to remove acidity, and then rinsed and dried again. I then apply them in layers on canvas board.
All originals are then scanned, and I create high quality archival prints from those scans.
